IDCEC

Course Submission Process

The review process takes approximately 6-8 weeks. You may not advertise your program as IDCEC-approved until you have officially been notified of approval. Please begin early to allow adequate time for marketing your course appropriately following the IDCEC decision.

  1. Download the correct application form for the type of course you are giving.
    • Course Submission Form – appropriate for in-person and distance learning courses.
    • Conference Submission Form – appropriate for in-person conferences.

  2. Determine if you are seeking approval to deliver a course only once, known as a "One-time Course," or if you are seeking approval to deliver a course an unlimited number of times over the next three years, known as an "Ongoing Course."

  3. Determine which delivery method your course will entail:
    • In-person presentation, such as a lecture in a classroom setting.
    • Distance learning, such as a text, web or telephone based coursework.

  4. Complete your submission form which may require your learning objectives, a detailed content outline, course description, audience information, and content bibliography. You must complete the submission form in its entirety or it will be returned to you unprocessed.

  5. Indicate the classification level (basic, intermediate or advanced) and course designation (heath safety, general or welfare) that you believe is most appropriate. The IDCEC reviewers will evaluate these selections and will make the final determination.

  6. Complete the appropriated supplemental forms.
    • Instructor Information Form – required for all Course Submissions.
    • Distance Learning Supplement – required for all distance learning courses.
    • Multiple Presenter Supplement – required for courses where more than one individual may teach the course independently.

  7. Submit four sets of your materials (submission form, supplements and course materials) along with your submission fee IDCEC.

  8. Once the managing organization has your complete application, the IDCEC review process will begin. The first step of this process is your reference check so ensure your references (provided on the Instructor Information Form) are responsive to avoid delays.

  9. The review process takes approximately 6-8 weeks. Your managing organization will inform you of the IDCEC decision (majority vote of 4-5 qualified IDCEC reviewers) to approve or deny your course. Reviewer identity is confidential, but information will be provided to indicate any cumulative feedback. IDCEC reviewer decisions are final.

  10. All "Ongoing Courses" are approved for two years time. At the conclusion of that two year period approval expires. All "One-Time Only Courses" and "Conferences" are approved for the date indicated in the submission. After this date approval expires.
